Craps

New to Craps? Only dream to be able to understand what all the hoopla is about going on at the Craps Table?

We will attempt to simplify the Game and with our insight that we will give to you, that you will be ready to give Craps a try!

To fully cover in depth Craps would be much writing and words that are not so easy to understand.  In the following, we will cover points of Craps, that we feel are most important and have included below an easy link to follow a short and well produced Craps Instruction/Intro video.

A good video of how to play Craps can be found by clicking “Learn Craps” below.  This is not one of our Partners due to Regional constraints.  Players can choose one of our Regional Partners and play Craps online.

Craps Overview

We hope that you did find the time to fully watch the 4min video, and now have a basic understanding of Craps.

Note from the information gathered in the video, Players can agree that Craps is based on probability of individual rolls of the dice, the dice total sum, and based greatly on the probability of the most rolled sum “7”, that has a 20% chance (1 in 5) probability of being rolled in the next roll.  Other sum rolls, such as {(1-1) 2 and (1-2)3} known as Craps and (6-5) 11, also have main winning/losing significance.

As seen in the Video, most Players will play the Pass Line.  Other Players may prefer the Don’t Pass Line, while some Players may prefer to not be involved in either Pass or Don’t Pass Lines, and simply play individual number sums, or might prefer many numbers all in one bet, example Field Bet (2,3,4, 9,10,11,12).

How many sum of dice combinations are there?

In total, there are 36 sum combinations of the dice totals.  Ranging from (1-1)2, known as Snake Eyes, to (6-6)12, known as Box Cars.

Pass & Don't Pass Lines

Do Players really need to place Bets on the Pass or Don’t Pass lines?

No, actually the only requirement to place Bets in the Pass or Don’t Pass Lines are to have the right to be a Dice Roller (Shooter).

With each game beginning with the Come Out Roll (after a 7 has been rolled to end the previous game) the Dice are passed clockwise to the next Contract Player (Player who is betting on the Pass or Don’t Pass Line) and that Player becomes the new Dice Roller.

Pass Line Players:  Players that are betting the Come Out Roll will be a 7 or 11,  or the Come Out Roll (Point) will be rolled again before a 7 is rolled.  Pass Line is often considered the safest Craps bet at a winning probability of  49.29%.  Pass Line payout is 1-1.  Pass Line Players win with a Come Out Roll of 7 or 11, and lose with a Come Out Roll of 2 or 3, known as Craps.

Don’t Pass Line Players:  Players that are betting the Come Out Roll will not be a 7 or 11, and are betting a 7 will be rolled prior to the Come Out Roll (Point) being rolled again.  Don’t Pass Line Players win with a Come Out Roll of 2 or 3, and lose with a Come Out Roll of 7 or 11.  From an odds perspective the Don’t Come Bet in Craps has worse odds on the Come Out Roll, but improves greatly after the Come Out is rolled and the Point is established.

Tips to Win at Craps

Know the Odds:

As in all Wagering, it is best to know the odds, if possible, and balance your bet to the inherited risk involved.  Listed below are the Dice Roll possibilities, 36 dice sums in total, and the odds and the payouts of each individual dice sum rolled.

Grind it Out:

In almost every form of betting, the best scenario is to get ahead, and get out.  While, that is most likely true in Craps as well, Players may find that, craps is one form of betting, that can be suited for a longer term session.

Playing the Don’t Pass Line, will seldom win you friends and neighbors at the Craps Table.  But, if you are not at the Casino as a Social Event and there to win, then the Don’t Pass Line might be an option for you.

Our opinion is, that if Players choose to pay the Don’t Pass Line and continue with their regular placing wager plans, that Players are in a sense buying insurance on each bet.  As any insurance, the funds payment for the insurance, will decrease the profit margin.  Thus, our opinion is, Players can win very small on each Game, and with grinding it out, can end up in profit in a good percentage of sessions.

In contrary,  if friends are more in vogue, to keep your night entertaining and with smiles, the Pass Line is most widely used as the Contract Bet, and will keep happier faces on your nearby neighbors.  The slight difference in the % or winning or losing with the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line are very small marginally.  All in all, keep Lady Luck on your side, and always hope to get ahead early, and stay on track to not over Wager late and give the Profits back.
